NEWS: Sen. Nikki Torres honors Seattle Seahawks following historic Super Bowl championship season

OLYMPIA — Sen. Nikki Torres today sponsored Senate Resolution 8683 honoring the Seattle Seahawks for their historic 2025 National Football League season, culminating in a Super Bowl LX championship and one of the most successful campaigns in franchise history. The resolution is scheduled to be read on the Senate floor on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

The Seahawks finished the regular season with a 14–3 record, captured the NFC West title, secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs, and went on to win the National Football Conference championship before defeating the New England Patriots 29–13 to claim the NFL title on the sport’s biggest stage.

“This team gave our state something truly special to celebrate,” Torres, R-Pasco, said. “From start to finish, the Seahawks played with discipline, heart, and unity — the same values that define so many of the communities I represent. This championship belongs not just to the players and coaches, but to the entire 12s community across Washington.”

During the season, the Seahawks delivered record-setting performances on both sides of the ball, fielding one of the league’s most productive offenses and its top-ranked defense. The team’s postseason run capped a year defined by resilience, leadership, and teamwork.

“The Seahawks reminded us that excellence is built day by day, through preparation, trust, and belief in one another,” Torres said. “In a year when people needed something to rally around, this team brought pride, joy, and a sense of shared accomplishment to our state.”

The resolution also recognizes the Seahawks’ long-standing commitment to community service, charitable initiatives, and youth engagement programs throughout Washington.

The 60-day 2026 legislative session began Monday, Jan. 12, and will conclude March 12.
